Committee ’12/’13

The Literary Society Committee is made up of 11 committee members: 5 Officers with specific duties in addition to their regular responsibilities; and 7 O.C.M.’s ( Ordinary Committee Members). Here they come, brace yourself!

OFFICERS

Chairperson – Claudio ‘The Power’ Sansone

Claudio is the Chairperson, which means that it’s his job to ensure that the society as a whole is run correctly and achieves its aims for the year, he also has to chair our raucous committee meetings and deal with that Trinity College thing we’re so tediously part of.

As a person (whatever that means) Claudio is an English Studies student from London, Rome, America and possibly any number of other places. He enjoys using hand gestures to communicate more efficiently and having an unpronounceable surname.

In becoming Chair he has achieved all his aspirations in life, however to maintain an income afterwards he plans to become the Batman or control an international crime syndicate through the medium of secret meetings in smoky rooms.

.

Secretary – Sarah ‘Little S’ Dunne

As Secretary Sarah is expected to handle and record all correspondence of the society, internally and externally. However she is planning on doing far more than simply fulfilling these expectations…

Sarah is an English and History student and we all know what that means right? Right? Anyway she apparently already has a degree in ‘The Funk’, or so she has told us, and is the owner of Ireland’s largest hat collection. We’re not really sure why she calls it a collection, it’s only one hat. When she grows up she would like the rule the Galaxy but would settle for a small province around South Carolina. She also particularly enjoys the alliteration of her position.

Her favourite colour is ultrasubviolet.

.

.

Treasurer – Jess ‘Five Grills’ Bernard.

The treasurer’s job is to make sure we  spend precisely the right amount of our money on wine. It’s a tough job but someone has to do it.

Jess came here from New Orleans for a term in 2012 and liked it so much that she decided to find a way to stay here, through any means necessary.

We won’t get into the specifics of that.

Her hobbies include getting involved with as many things as possible all the time and occasionally going to the lectures for the course that she’s now suddenly doing. Well done to her

.

P.R.O. – Mark ‘Oh God I Have To Think Of A Nickname For Myself Too Now?’ O’Donnell

As Public Relations Officer Mark runs all the publicity of the society and its events. He also has to figure out how wordpress works. A feat which has baffled many.

Mark is an Engineering student, and we know what you’re thinking, how did a guy that good looking get into Engineering? Seriously, just look at him. He’s gorgeous, it’s taking all my, I mean our, willpower not to make this whole page about him. He’s so dreamy. But seriously, to answer what you probably were thinking: science guys read too. We’re as surprised as you are.

Mark may or may not have written this himself. He has also never, not even that one time, been told that he has a face for radio.

.

.

Librarian – Naomi ‘Here Comes The Thunder’ Rea

Naomi is this year’s librarian, which entails that she has responsibility for keeping a record of our books, taking care of the, I mean her, library, and making literal heaps of tea and coffee. Along with providing a supply of biscuits. Stress of that.

She is an English and Philosophy so she spends most of her time debating with herself whether or not there is in fact any library. As would be expected of such a taxing endeavour she finds herself both mentally and physically exhausted afterwards. As such she can often be found ‘resting’ in our humble library. And talking to herself.

.

ORDINARY COMMITTEE MEMBERS (OCMs)

Assistant P.R.O. – Hannah ‘The Powerhouse’ Cunningham

Hannah is this year’s Assistant Public Relations Officer, which involves sharing the work of the P.R.O. and making sure the publicity actually gets out to the college itself. She doesn’t know what she’s gotten herself in for, definitely going to fail her Classics and English this year. *Evil Laugh etc*

As a student Hannah spends hardly any time at all in college and of course I am going to be giving her the lion’s share of the publicity to do. I mean come on, it’s not like she has any real work to do. I’m not even joking, this is in fact her typing and myself dictating, soon I won’t have any involvement in P.R. except to take all the credit, it’s great! Her favourite thing in the world would be a badge and a new pair of jeans, make it happen people.

.

.

.

.

Cathal ‘BURGH’ O’Leary

Cathal is a History and Political Science student, so really he’s actually a scientist, two of them on committee now, madness.

He particularly enjoys historical fiction, fervently believing that this love will eventually allow him to build a time machine to literally write himself into the past. His other main loves are making deep grunting noises, being compared to a Cave Troll and eating cheese. He’s feels that he’s qualified to be on committee due to the amount of time which he spends in the room procrastinating. We agree.

.

.

.

Olly ‘The Colossus of’ Rhode

Olly studies French and Italian, the handsome bastard. He likes blue things, the handsome bastard. Look at his picture, it’s all blue and crap, the handsome bastard. He probably likes books or something too, the handsome bastard. Also he’s American or English or something, the handsome bastard. Cool guy. True story.

He’s not too bad to look at either, the handsome bastard.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

Roisin ‘You’ll Never Guess Who’ Donohoe

Roisin studies English and Philosophy and currently spends most of her time carrying our librarian through her degree. What time she has left for herself is spent in front of mirrors making sure she looks as effortlessly nonchalant as possible and listening to bands you’ve never heard of and getting knee deep at ATP.

She also loves the smell after rain on dry ground or something artsy like that.

.

.

.

.

Elizabeth ‘The Archipelago’ Mohen

Elizabeth is the newest member of this year’s committee, having been elected in an EGM. Make no mistake though, she knows about as much about what she’s doing as we do.

Read into that what you will.

Elizabeth is a second year English student with a penchant for Oscar Wilde, she even has a pose able action figure of him that she never talks about. We’re planning on collecting up our old WWE figures and staging a deathmatch with them soon, once we decide on his special move.

.

James ‘Bearslayer‘ Moran

James is one of those people who excels at everything, but who has also mastered that rare talent of not being hated for it. We believe it is his awful, awful sense of humour which has led to this rare combination of traits.

He is a Psychology student and knows exactly what you’re going to do, not only before you do it, but also before he knows you’re going to do it. He may have made that up. His appearances at our Speakeasy events are also always incredibly memorable, wait to see what we mean.

.

.

Emily ‘Superstar’ Murtagh

Emily studies English and Theology (maybe?) and is that member of the committee who we have to keep an extra eye on at events, that nickname isn’t just to fill up space. She has been known to attack speakers in the past for saying her name wrong, even if she hasn’t introduced herself yet, however we will be keeping her on a probationary leash for first term and seeing how things go from there.

She also wins award for best picture. Well done everyone.

This may or may not be all made up.
